More information

The Erland Lee (Museum) Home is a National Historic Site of Canada, owned & operated by the Federated Women's Institutes of Ontario (FWIO). The building was originally constructed in 1808 as a 1.5 story log cabin on a 100-acre farm where John & Mary (Moore) Lee raised their eleven children and grew fruit, grain, and livestock.
By 1873, after two periods of renovation under the direction of Abram Lee, the home stood as the beautiful of Carpenter Gothic Revival architecture it is today.
In 1897, the first Women's Institute was formed in the Lee family's dining room, its constitution penned by Janet (Chisholm) Lee.
The home was purchased from the Lee family by the FWIO and opened as a museum celebrating the Women's Institute and community history in 1972.
Come on by and experience for yourself the elegance and tranquility of Victorian life on the breathtaking rural Niagara Escarpment.
